How To Participate

TEAMS

Team Leaders

Each Team Leader must commit to the delivery of the cards on Cards 4 Cancer Day to the cancer center of their teams choosing. Cards 4 Cancer Day is Saturday April 10th, 2010. Teams may have more then one Team Leader if they like. Team Leaders will collect their own cards as well as the cards from their Team Members in time for delivery.

Team Members

The only difference between a Team Leader and a Team Member is that Team Members are not committing to the delivery of the cards. Team Members are there to help their team collect as many cards as possible. After collecting cards, Team Members will hand the cards off to the Team Leader in time for delivery to the cancer center. Someone who is only making a card or two is not necessarily a Team Member. We ask that Team Members sign up on the website to be counted as an official Team Member. Team Members who are not signed up will not count towards your teams total should we have the ability to give out prizes. Those who wish to participate as a Team Member but do not have a team already may collect the cards and we will locate a team for you to get your cards to(you may have to mail the cards to a team leader if one is not in your local area).

Teams

Teams may create a team name just for fun. Use your businesses name, family name, etc.  Teams may have as many Team Members as they like. Team Leaders may let us know if the team is in memory of or in support of anyone in particular.

The Cards

Teams will collect as many uplifting cards as they can. The cards will be delivered to the cancer centers on or around April 10th. Most cancer centers will not let you deliver them to the patients directly so the team leaders are going to be delivering the cards to someone at the center who will then have the staff pass the cards out to the cancer fighters. The cards can be handmade or store bought. We ask that you stay away from “GET WELL” and also any religious messages in your cards. The cards may be signed however the person making the card feels most comfortable. The cards may be in an envelope or not but if you do place them in an envelope we suggest leaving the envelope unsealed in case the staff needs to look at the cards before they deliver them. Also all cards should have spiritjump.org somewhere on the card so that those who receive the cards will know where to go should they wish to receive more support. Team leaders should go through their cards to ensure that this has been done. If not the team leaders should write that in the cards.

You Must Choose a Cancer Center

Once your Team chooses the cancer center you would like to deliver the cards to please send an email to cards4cancer@spiritjump.org with the name and address of the cancer center (if possible please provide the phone number as well). Spirit Jump will contact the hospital to set up delivery details. If you have an affiliation with someone at the center please let us know who they are and what the affiliation is. We will also contact the hospitals PR department to arrange media opportunities to help create more awareness. Spirit Jump will keep you informed regarding delivery and media details.
